A. Analytical
exposition text
1. Write
/ find the definition of analytical exposition text.
The definition of analytical
exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer’s idea or opinion about
the phenomenon surrounding.
2. What
the generic structure of the text?
The generic structure of the
analytical exposition text is :
·
Thesis : Introduces the topic and shows
speaker or writer’s position ; Outlines of the arguments to be presented.
·
Arguments : It consists about Point and
Elaboration Point, states the main argument. Elaboration : develops and
supports each point of argument.
·
Conclusion : Reiteration (restatement),
restates speaker or writer’s position.
3. What
the purpose of the text?
The purpose of the analytical
exposition text is :
·
To persuade the reader or listener that
there is something that, certainly, needs to get attention.
·
To analyze a topic and to persuade the
reader that this opinion is correct and supported by arguments.
Examples :
argumentative essay and exploratory essay
4. What
the language features of the text?
The language features of the
analytical exposition text is :
·
Focus on generic human and non human
participants.
·
Using mental processes. It is used to
state what the writer or speaker thinks or feels about something, for example :
realize, feel, etc.
·
Need material processes. It is used to
state what happens, for example : has polluted, etc.
·
Using simple present tense.
·
Using relational processes.
·
Using internal conjunction to state
argument.
·
Reasoning through casual conjuction or
nominalization.
5. Write
/ find the example of the text.
Laptop
as Students’ Friend
Thesis :
Conventionally,
students need book, pen, eraser, drawing book, ruler and such other stuff. Additionally,
in this multimedia era, students need more to reach their progressive
development. Students need mobile keyboards to record every presented subject
easily. Of course it will need more cost but it will deserve for its function.
Argument 1 :
First, modern
schools tend to apply fast transferring knowledge because the school needs to
catch the target of curriculum. Every subject will tend to be given in
demonstrative method. Consequently students need extra media cover the subject.
Since there is a laptop on every student’s desk, this method will help student
to get better understanding.
Argument 2 :
Secondly,
finding an appropriate laptop is not difficult as it was. Recently there is an
online shop which provides comprehensive information. The best is that the shop
has service of online shopping. The students just need to brows that online
shop, decide which computer or laptop they need, and then complete the
transaction. After that the laptop will be delivered to the students’ houses.
That is really easy and save time and money.
Conclusion :
From
all of that, having mobile computer is absolutely useful for students who want
to catch the best result for their study. Buying laptop online is advisable
because it will cut the price. This online way is recommended since online shop
also provides several laptop types. Students just need to decide which type
they really need.
6. Write
an analytical exposition text based on own your topic (school).
School
Literate Program for Students
Thesis :
The school literate program for students developed based on the
rule of minister of education and culture number 23 in 2015. The rule is about
moral growth. This program aims to familiarize and motivate students to read
and write to cultivate their moral. At the beginning of the year of 2016 / 2017
SMAN 8 Yogyakarta started this program. The program usually begins at 06.45 –
07.00 a.m before the class started. But, this program has pros and cons from
students.
Argument 1 :
First,
they seems to agree with the program, because they consider that it will bring
influences to them. Those influences are :
1. When they follow the program, they will get more
knowledges from literate’s book. The literate’s book contains new informations
when we don’t know it before.
2. The program can improve their critical thinking to
analyze a problem, like a complicated question.
3. The program can give more courages or spirit to be discipline
about the shool’s time in the morning.
4. The program can improve their comprehension about a
text. So they can understand the text that they have read easily.
Argument
2 :
Secondly, they seems to assess that the
result of literate more effective with speaking in front of class because they
can retrain their ability to speak. When they speak in front of class, maybe
they can improve their confident.
Argument
3 :
Thirdly, in addition to assess above, they seems to
assess that the program can’t improve their interest to reading, because the
time to read for the literate is too early and the variety of book has less
interesting to them. I think the school need consideration from student’s
complaints in order to this program be successful.
Conclusion
:
From all of those arguments, in fact, the students
of SMAN 8 Yogyakarta has agreed to have the literate program but they not agree
about the time that have been determined to run the program. The literate’s
book has less interesting and has less variety that makes the student feels
lazy and it can’t improve their interest to read. The program can give positive
impacts to students but it needs consideration from student’s complaints in
order to this program be successful.

The definition of hortatory
exposition text is a type of spoken or written text that is intended to explain
the listeners or readers that something should or should not happen or be done.
2. What
the generic structure of the text?
The generic structure of the
hortatory exposition text is :

Thesis : Statement or announcement of
issue concern.
·
Arguments : Reasons for concern that
will lead to recommendation.
·
Recommendation : Statement of what
should or should not happen or be done based on the given arguments.
3. What
the purpose of the text?
The purpose of the hortatory
exposition text is to persuade the readers that something should or should not
be the case or be done.
4. What
the language features of the text?
The language features of the
hortatory exposition text is :

Using simple present tense.

Using modals.

Using action verbs.
·
Using thinking verbs.
·
Using adverbs.

Thesis :
Nowadays,
in modern era, I think internet is very important for students.
Argument1
:
As
we all know internet has many function for supporting our life. They are,
first, it gives us various information, news, knowledge etc. Students can
search anything or something from internet. Take for example, they search about
education, entertainment, knowledge etc that is in the world.
Argument
2 :
Second,
they can add their friends in all countries in the world by internet. Chatting,
e-mail, facebook, twitter, interpals are some examples of internet facility to
have many friends. Besides, they can share, communicate, discuss and so on.
Recommendation
:
From
my arguments above, as student, we should use internet facility well to get
knowledge, friends, information etc.

my arguments above, I can give any solution to cultivate the program, there are
: the school should review that program, such as the time’s for literate and
the books for literate. In addition, the school should makes a competition to
their students, like writing opinion competition, making mind map competition,
making short story competition, and student can be participant to make school’s
bulletin or magazine. So, students can be more enthusiast to follow the
literate program.
